Is it safe to use retreaded tires on our vehicles?

If you've ever wondered whether to use retread tires for your truck, car, or other vehicle, the answer is definitely YES, according to Harvey Brodsky, director of the Retread Tire Association, a member of the tire industry organization that works for charity.

"You have to deal with a retreader of the highest quality, preferably with an organization like RTA or something else, because it signifies the commitment of the retread plant to produce quality retread products," says Brodsky.

Retread tires have been used and continue to be used safely by vehicles such as school buses and public buses, commercial and military airlines, freight forwarders such as DHL, FED EX, PUROLATOR, UPS, post offices in the United States, Canada, and other countries, taxis, racing cars, fire engines, and other official cars, as well as by millions of trucks and private vehicles of all shapes and sizes.

"A good example of demonstrating the safety of retread tires is looking through an insurance company," says Brodsky.

"If retread tires were not safer than new tires, the insurance company would certainly provide an additional premium on vehicle insurance policies that use retread tires, but in fact, the insurance company does not care whether the insured vehicle uses retread tires or new, this is due to the percentage of accidents. from the use of retread or new tires is no different.

There is even an executive order from the United States Federal Government no. 13149 which mandates the use of retreaded tires for certain government vehicles. "

If you are in business with a retread plant that has a good reputation, you will buy retread tires that have the same level of safety as new tires, but at a lower price and you have also participated in protecting the environment because the retreading process is included. recycling process and more environmentally friendly than using new tires "said Brodsky.

"I have proudly used retreaded tires in my family vehicle for over 35 years," said Brodsky.

"I've never had problems with my retread tires."
